Shopify theme setup

This page is here to guide you through the importing and customisation phase - in your downloaded file, there will also be a couple PDF's that will further guide you. If you're needing assistance, please reach out to contact@thesiakoedit.com and we will do our best to assist you!

Shopify currently offers $1 a month for the first 3 months.

Open your web browser and head to https://www.shopify.com/au.

Follow the prompts to create your account.

After purchasing our theme, you will receive an email, please follow the prompts to download the theme to your computer.

To upload the theme to Shopify:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. Go to Online Store > Themes.
  3. Click Add Theme > Upload zip file > Add File.
  4. Select the zip file from your access PDF (do not unzip it) and click Open to upload.
  5. Once uploaded, click Customize Theme to start editing your store.

How to Group Products into a Collection in Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. From the dashboard, go to Products > Collections.
  3. Click Create collection.
  4. Enter a title and optional description for your collection.
  5. In the Collection type section, choose Manual (you add products yourself) or Automated (products are added based on conditions you set, like price, tags, or product type).
  6. Click Save to create your collection.

How to Customize Your Shopify Store with Theme Settings

Use Theme settings to change the overall look and feel of your online store.

  1. From the Admin Panel, click 'Online Store' > Themes > Edit Theme.
  2. From here, there will be a settings icon on the left panel - click this and it will take you to your theme settings.

Here you can:

  • Update fonts and colors
  • Add or edit social links
  • Customise your checkout style

Any changes made in Theme settings will automatically apply across your entire store, keeping your design consistent.

How to Add a New Page in Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. Go to Online Store > Pages.
  3. Click Add page.
  4. Enter a title for your new page.
  5. Click Save to publish your page.

Step 1: Create a New Template

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. Go to Online Store > Themes.
  3. Click Customise on your current theme.
  4. In the theme editor, open the page selector dropdown and click Create template.
  5. Give your new template a name (e.g., “About Page” or “Custom Landing”) and choose the type of template (usually “page”).
  6. Click Create template.

Step 2: Apply the Template to a Page

  1. Go to Online Store > Pages.
  2. Click on the title of the page you want to modify.
  3. In the Online store section, use the template dropdown menu to select the template you just created.
  4. Click Save to publish your changes.

Step 1: Create a new page

In your Shopify admin:

  • Go to Online Store > Pages
  • Click Add Page
  • Enter your page title (e.g About, Contact, FAQ)

PS: You can leave the content area blank - the design comes from the template that we have created for you.

Step 2: Assign the correct template

On the right-hand side of the page editor:

  • Click the little arrow and a drop down menu will appear with the pre-made templates.
  • Select the matching template
  • (e.g. about, contact, faq)
  • Click Save

Once saved, the page will instantly take on the template’s layout and design.

(In the google drive, you will receive a guide that will walk you through this process in detail).

How to Add/Update products

  1. Head to to the main menu on your Shopify account.
  2. Go to Products - from your dashboard, click Products in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click 'Add Product'
  4. Enter the product title and details - write a clear, descriptive product description. If you'd like some extra guidance, we have a blog on this!
  5. Enter the price your product will sell for. Add “Compare at price” if you want to show discounts.
  6. Inventory: Add SKU numbers, manage stock quantity, and set inventory tracking if needed.
  7. Shipping: Enter weight for shipping calculations and choose if it requires shipping.
  8. Organise your product: Assign it to a collection (optional) to help customers find it.
  9. Add tags for better search filtering on your store.
  10. Save your product
    Click Save at the top or bottom of the page. Your product is now live (or updated) in your Shopify store.

How to Create a Discount in Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. Go to Discounts in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click Create discount.
  4. Follow the prompts to choose your discount type (percentage, fixed amount, free shipping, or automatic).
  5. Set any requirements or usage limits for the discount.
  6. Click Save to activate your new discount.

How to add photos to product variants in Shopify

  1. Select the product you want to edit.
  2. Go to the Variants tab.
  3. List your product colors (or other options) under Option Values, then click Done.
  4. Click the photo icon next to each variant.
  5. Upload or select the corresponding photo for that variant.
  6. Click Save to update your product.

Important things to know: 'Pages' do not come pre-created when you install the theme as Shopify doesn't allow it to be set up. However, all page designs and layouts are included in your purchase so you'll have to do the following;

There are two ways to remove the password from your online store so it’s publicly accessible.

Method 1: From the Themes Banner

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  2. Go to Online Store > Themes.
  3. Look for the banner that says “Your online store is password protected.”
  4. Click Remove password.This will deactivate password protection and allow anyone to visit your store.

Method 2: From Preferences

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.
  2. Scroll to the Password protection section.
  3. Uncheck Restrict access to visitors with the password.
  4. Click Save to make your store publicly accessible.
  1. Go to Online Store > Preferences.
  2. In the Title and Meta Description section:
  3. Enter a page title that clearly represents your store.
  4. Add a meta description that describes your business and includes important keywords.
  5. Review your information carefully, then click Save to apply the changes.
  1. Go to Settings > Domains.
  2. Click Connect existing domain.
  3. Enter your domain name (e.g., selene-apparel.com) and click Next.
  4. Once you’ve updated your domain settings with your domain provider, click Verify connection to confirm your domain is linked to your Shopify store.
  1. Go to Settings > Shipping and Delivery.
  2. Under Shipping, click Manage Rates next to the shipping profile you want to set up.
  3. Add shipping zones: Click Create shipping zone. Enter a name (like “Australia” or “Domestic”) and select the regions or countries you ship to.
  4. Set shipping rates: Click Add rate. Choose Set up your own rates or Use carrier-calculated rates. Enter the price or let Shopify calculate it automatically based on weight or price.
  5. Save your settings
  6. Click Save to apply the shipping rates and zones.
